Our Story

It started with a desk in the back of a barbershop on 118th Avenue.

Back in 2007, Dara Murphy had spent years as a community organizer — watching local shop owners, contractors, and family-run restaurants struggle with the same invisible problem. They knew how to do their work. But compliance regulations, risk frameworks, and contract fine print? That stuff tripped them up. The big firms downtown charged big-firm prices, and Main Street couldn't keep up. So Dara grabbed a folding chair, borrowed a desk, and posted a flyer at the next community board meeting. Ten business owners showed up. Ten became clients. And Murphy Business Advisory was born.
